Description of sights, excursions and activities

Sightseeing tour of Irkutsk
The guide will take you through the historical sites, tell the story of the city and its most notable constructions. You will visit the area of ​​three churches, the city embankment, the E ternal Flame, the monuments to Alexander III, Admiral Kolchak and the founder of Irkutsk – Yakov Pokhabov.s

Volkonsky Estate (Museum of the Decembrists)
The guide will get you acquainted with the Sergey and Maria Volkonsky biographies, their tragic story of being exiled to Siberia in earlier XIX circumstantial to the Uprising on Senate Square on December 14, 1825

Taltsy Museum
On the way to Listvyanka you will visit the architectural and ethnographic open-air museum of “Taltsy”, exhibiting unique monuments of wooden architecture of 17-20 centuries. Then your journey to Listvyanka will continue.
Upon arrival, lunch in a restaurant with a panoramic view of Lake Baikal.

Baikal Museum
The guide will tell you about the flora and fauna of Baikal, counting more than 3.5 thousand species. Then will ride a cable car to the Cherskiy Stone observation platform, opening up a gorgeous view of the Angara River and the Baikal port.

Fish and souvenir market
Here you will find a huge variety of Baikal souvenirs, made of semiprecious stones (jade, charoite, lapis lazuli), shamanic amulets, cedar products and other typical regional handcrafted items and treats. You can try hot and cold smoked fish as well.

This is the only railway station in the world completely built of marble. Мain stops: Tolsty cape, Italian Retaining Wall, Polovinnaya, Shumikha. Each of the stops has its own historical significance and a lot of stories to tell.

A walk along the eco-trail on the territory of the Baikal Natural Reserve in Tankhoy (5 km). The trail leads through a dense cedar forest. For visitors’ convenience and for the purpose of the forest ecosystem preservation, the trail is elevated as high as 30 cm above the ground-level, so the walk will be easy.

Ulan-Ude city-tour
The city was founded in 1666 as a Cossack settlement on the right bank of the Selenga River. Today it is a modern city with a population of about 400 thousand people.

Old Believers
Old Believers – a unique phenomenon of Russian and in the world history. Today, the culture of Old Believers is recognized as unique, and is included in the representative list of the intangible cultural heritage of mankind, compiled by UNESCO. Russia is represented on this list, for instance, by Yakut heroic epos “Olonkho” and the verbal art of the Old Believers in Transbaikalia. The tour includes a visit to the museum and a lunch in the Old Believer’s house with an entertainment program. During the lunch you will taste traditional Russian dishes and take part in a funny folklore show.

Ivolginsky datsan
Ivolginsky datsan, a complex of Buddhist monasteries that is the center of Buddhism in Russia, located 23 km from Ulan Ude city. The datsan was opened in 1945 as the only Buddhist spiritual centre of the USSR. It was the residence of the Central Spiritual Board of Buddhists of the USSR and later of the Buddhist Traditional Sangha of Russia. The altars and interiors of the temples of the complex are decorated with authentic works of art. Many believers, pilgrims and tourists from all over the world visit Datsan.

Svyatoy Nos (Rus. the holy nose) peninsula trail
The length of the trail is about 24 km. You will see a wooden cross on the way. After about 1.5 hours of ascent from the Cross, you will find yourself on a giant plateau – the top of the Holy Nose, from where you can enjoy an amazing view of Barguzinsky and Chivyrkuisky bays of Lake Baikal.
In the evening transfer to the hotel in Ust-Barguzin.

Cape Khoboy
This is the northernmost cape of Olkhon opening great view over Svyatoy Nos peninsula and the Seaside mountain range. During the excursion you will admire the most beautiful deserted sandy bays and beaches – a typical feature of Olkhon.
